The former "Active 8" mascot of 8 Platoon Charlie Company 3 RAR Vietnam 1971 has been as donated to the present day 8 platoon members at the 3 RAR Holsworthy barracks recently. 8 platoon members accepted the "Golden Fleece" symbol and intended displaying it in the platoon office. The "Golden Fleece" symbol was used to advertise a popular brand of petrol around the 1970's (as seen below).

Donated by David Lean and Tony Cox (8Pl C Coy Vietnam 1971), the emblem has been placed in the platoon office, 8 Platoon lines Townsville. Qld

Golden Fleece came onto the market around 1913 and was taken over by Caltex in 1981.
